This late night crêperie was started by Matt Makin (where the name comes from) and Pat McCombs. In February of 2009 we traveled to Cergy-Pontoisse, France to participate in a student entrepreneurial exchange. During that experience, we worked with 5 other students (a mix of French and Americans) to write a business plan for a company that combined the cultures of both countries. After tasting true French crêpes for the first time in our lives, we decided that a crêperie would be the theme of our new venture, and we drew up the plans for the Crêpe Connection - a crêperie that operated from mobile trucks, stationed at college campuses around the U.S. This was all just an idea that never really grew into anything...at first.
But now, we are making it real. During the summer of 2010, we started throwing ideas back and forth for Makin’ Crêpes - something that was to be similar, but quite different from the Crêpe Connection. Since that time, we have been practicing, planning and experimenting, and we launched on February 1, 2011, on the campus of Albion College. Thus far, students have been loving it and we’ve been having a great time!
In a couple years, hopefully we will be on the campus of your college or university!
